How do I think the new forms of communication via the internet will affect society? Well, I think our lifestyle already revolves around the internet and it's many forms of communication. One thing it's changed the most is how we gather our information. I remember the good ole days when the library was your only source for research. Now all you have to do is search through Google and your computer will find all the information you need.

The internet has also affected the way people interact. It's less talk and more blogging and instant messaging. Yes the message is easier and more convenient to send, but I think it's affecting how we verbally communicate with one another. I catch myself saying "MySpace me later" rather than simply saying "call me."

These features have us spending way too much time online (I am one of those internet addicts). Speaking of internet addiction... I found this video from the NY Post on internet the topic. It's about 3 minutes, but it's interesting... check it out.

  1. Wow! Janice, I saw the link for that Youtube video on internet addiction. Then I followed another link to CBS News. If Katie Couric is saying this is a problem, you know something's up! But I can see what everyone is talking about...because everyone is TALKING about just that, the internet. I have to admit...I will "Google" anything and everything. I mean, why not? It's the fastest and most convenient way to research anything. Some of the sources it gives us are not reliable, but some of them are. The only thing that really bothers me, is the people who are bothered by being moved around on someone's top friends list on MySpace!!! What is that about??
