Write as you would... text?

LOL, OMG, BRB.... all means something to the common texter. But are these shortcuts affecting the overall written communication when it comes to students and their assignments? It's sad to say, but I think yes. I believe electronic media is a wonderful thing, but it has made kids lazy. It's affecting the way they speak, and write especially at schools across the country. Since we haven't fully gone through this stage and actually had to be cautious when typing out a paper, it doesn't affect us as much. However the younger generation is seeing the ramifications of this electronic media through their education.

Hi President Obama,

I have to say you're doing a great job so far. Thanks for your efforts in helping the American people with your new stimulus plan. However, despite bank and car companies receiving a good amount of bail out money, they're still unwilling to work with consumers wanting to purchase or invest. I thought this money was suppose to open opportunities for consumers to be able to spend money and stimulate the economy. They're easily giving out million dollar bonuses, but when it comes to a loan of a couple of thousand, we're getting a no? Please help look further into these issues!
